Does my Honda have any outstanding recalls?

Any Honda vehicle recall or product update information can be found by clicking here, or you can call Honda Canada Customer Relations at 1-888-946-6329. Your Vehicle Identification Number will be required in order to check for any recalls. If you ever move, please let Honda Canada know your new address, so we can ensure you receive any future recall notices. Or if you sell your Honda, ask the new owner to notify Midtown Honda or Honda Canada so our files can be updated with the new ownership information.

How much is an Oil and Filter change?

If your Honda uses 5W20 motor oil, the oil and filter change is $44.88 plus oil recycling charge and taxes. If your Honda uses Synthetic 0W20 motor oil, the oil and filter change is $59.88 plus fluid recycling charge and taxes. Your oil and filter change includes Genuine Honda Motor oil, a Genuine Honda oil filter, battery test, tire inspection, tire pressure adjustment and an automated wash (weather permitting).

What is TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline and its benefits?

TOP TIER Detergent Gasoline (TTDG) is a new class of fuel that helps keep engines cleaner for optimal fuel economy, improved engine performance and lower emissions. It is based on a fuel performance standard developed by BMW, GM, Honda and Toyota. When should I service my Honda?

If you own a newer Honda then your vehicle is equipped with the Maintenance Minder System. This system calculates when your Honda is due for service, and displays a little wrench with an A or B along with sub-symbols 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 when service is required. How do I get the radio code for my Honda?

When you purchase a new Honda you receive a card with the radio code on it, this code will only be needed if the radio loses power. If you do not have the radio code, bring your Honda and your ID to our service drive-thru and one of our advisors will retrive the radio code for you at NO CHARGE. NOTE: If you own an older Honda where we cannot retrive the radio code with the "Hold 1 and 6 method", the radio will have to be removed. There will be a charge for this service.

How long does it take for an Oil and Filter change?

If you book an appointment for an oil and filter change, we will do our best to get you in and out in an hour or less. This includes the oil and filter change, battery test, tire inspection, tire pressure adjustment and an automated wash (weather permitting). If you do not have an appointment you might have to wait a bit longer depending on booked customer appointments for the day. In the end we will do our best to make your wait a short one.

What is the warranty on my new Honda?

In general terms the warranty on your new Honda is 3 years or 60,000 kms* (whichever comes first) and 5 years or 100,000 kms* on the engine and powertrain (whichever comes first). If you have purchased a Honda Plus extended warranty plan you will have additional coverage. *Not all items on your Honda are covered under warranty, please call us if you have any questions.

Does Midtown Honda offer a shuttle service?

Yes. We have two shuttles on the road to serve our customers. Our shuttle area is limited, please call to see if you are within our shuttle zone, or we can arrange a rental vehicle if needed. Our shuttle service is subject to availability and we cannot offer a shuttle for oil and filter changes as these are usually completed in under an hour.

Do I get a courtesy vehicle if my Honda is in for warranty repairs?

Honda does not supply a courtesy vehicle for warranty repairs unless you have purchased a Honda Plus extended warranty plan, conditions apply.

My Check Engine light is on, what does this mean?

The Check Engine light in technical terms is called the Malfunction Indicator Light or MIL. The MIL light comes on when your Honda's computer detects a fault that can affect your fuel economy, transmission, vehicle performance or the exhaust emissions. There is no button to reset the Check Engine light, but if the fault that caused it doesn't happen again, the light may turn off by itself. If the MIL light stays on, you should have the problem checked out, because in some cases, the problem could get worse if not repaired in time. Think of the Check Engine light as an early warning sign. The most common reason for this light coming on is a loose or defective gas cap. If your Check Engine light does come on, remove the gas cap, clean the rubber seal, and re-install the cap turning it as least three clicks. If the light does not go off in 72 hours you should bring your Honda in to have this checked.

Can I service my Acura at Midtown Honda?

Yes. Midtown Honda can take care of all of your Acura service needs with the exception of warranty repairs.

What warranty coverage is available on my tires?

The warranty on the original tires on all Honda vehicles is honoured by the tire manufacturer, not by Honda. If you believe the flat tire was caused by a tire defect, you may either contact the tire manufacturer's Customer Assistance line directly, or ask your Honda dealership to do so on your behalf. Every Honda sold has warranty information provided by the tire manufacturer, including telephone numbers, in the glove compartment. There is no Road Hazard warranty on original equipment tires unless you have purchased Honda Canada's optional Roadside Assistance package. This means that if you run over a nail or otherwise impact an object that causes the tire to go flat, you are only covered if you purchased the additional Roadside Assistance package.

I just bought a used Honda and there was no Owner's Manual with it. How can I get one?

Although the paper copies of many owners manuals have been discontinued, digital versions can be found on Honda owner’s website – myhonda.ca. Additionally, you can also log onto http://honda.ca/owners/manuals to view or download the 2001 - 2016 manual of your choice, by selecting the Year, Model and Type of manual. For mobile use, download of files over Wi-Fi network using Acrobat Reader is recommended due to their large size.

Can Honda recommend different tires for my Honda other than those which were originally installed?

Sorry, but no. Honda Canada can only recommend what was originally designed for use on your Honda. If you are changing tires, Honda recommends that you utilize the same tire size, load and speed rating as that of the tires originally supplied with your car. This also applies for winter tires – always use the same size as the tires that were originally installed on your vehicle.

Can I put snow tires on just the front wheels?

No. If you live in an area or drive in conditions that require tires with better traction, you should consider installing winter tires, but you must install them on all 4 wheels, not just the drive wheels. Again, be sure to use tires that are the same size as originally specified for your Honda.

How important is a four-wheel alignment?

Think of it this way. Research indicates that the average Honda is driven about 20,000 kilometres per year. A Honda with toe alignment just 0.34 degrees (Just 0.17 inches) out of specification has dragged its tires sideways for more than 110 kilometres by the end of the year! As a general rule, have a four-wheel alignment performed on your Honda every 20,000 kilometres or once a year.

What are the "symptoms" that your Honda is out of alignment?

Have your Honda checked if you notice: Excessive or uneven tire wear. Steering wheel pulls to the left or right. Feeling of looseness or wandering. Steering wheel vibration or shimmy.
